Latoya Davis: Pregnant Philadelphia Mother Killed at Philly Gas Station
Latoya Davis of Philadelphia was the friend that always checked on others, her friends and family members said. The 32-year-old was a mother of two children and 5 months pregnant with her third.
"I’m going to miss her. She was a mother to all of us. That was the oldest. We followed her everywhere. I’m going to try to keep pushing," Latoya’s cousin, Eunique Moore, told TV station Fox 29.
“She was just a very beautiful person and she would give you anything. She was always checking on you to make sure you were okay. She was lovely," says Tawanda Armour, a family member of Davis.
On Saturday, October 6, 2024, around 7:20 p.m., Davis got into an argument with another woman at a Wawa gas station, according to police. When officers arrived, they found Davis lying on the ground. She had suffered a gunshot wound to the upper torso.
Police have arrested 30-year-old Evelena Williams, who, authorities said shot Davis while she was running away from her. Williams, who stayed on the scene when officers arrived, told them that she is licensed to carry.
"It’s just horrible, I can’t believe someone would actually kill a pregnant woman," Armour was quoted as saying.
Williams is facing multiple charges, including first and third-degree murder for both the death of Davis and her unborn child, criminal homicide, and recklessly endangering another person.
