Tameka Skinner: Abducted Georgia Woman Found Dead In Alabama
Tameka Skinner was house-sittting in an apartment complex just outside Columbus, Georgia when an ordinary night turned chaotic. Police say she and her boyfriend were attacked outside the apartment complex around 1 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2020.
The assailants reportedly kidnapped Skinner and drove off in her car, which was eventually tracked across state lines in Alabama.
The Sheriff’s Office in Russell County, Alabama was enlisted to help after authorities descended upon an SUV outside a home where they believed Skinner to be. Deputies tried to stop the SUV from leaving but the vehicle — with three males and one woman inside — was able to get out, sparking a high speed chase.
The ordeal ended about 6 a.m. when the SUV crashed and deputies were able to apprehend four suspects. A short time later, deputies found Skinner’s burned car and body near a roadside.
As for a motive, authorities believe the woman suspect was previously involved in a romantic relationship with Skinner’s boyfriend.
“At this point in the investigation, the motive appears to be jealousy,” Sheriff Heath Taylor said in a statement. “[The woman suspect] recruited the other three men to help her with the kidnapping and killing of Tameka Skinner, to get her out of the way.”
A GoFundMe has been set up to look after Skinner’s children. It reads:
Lamaria and La’Niyah have lost their Mother in a tragic incident that has them now starting a life without the love, care and support of a mother. This fund is to help give the girls some foundational support in this dark time. This will never replace their mother but as our elders always said “it takes a village to raise a child”, we are now standing in the gap to make sure the girls have all the things in life their mother would have given them. Please share
Taylor said the suspect had children with Skinner’s boyfriend.
All four suspects have been booked on charges of capital murder.
