Fredzania Thompson: 19-year-old aspiring model struck and killed by train during photoshoot
Fredzania Thompson dreamed of being a model. The 5/11 volleyball star took her dream so seriously that she wanted to postpone her college career at Blinn College in Bryant, Texas, to pursue it.
So March 10 was an awfully big day for her in Navasota, Texas, about an hour outside Houston. It was the day that she was to have her photoshoot. The 19-year-old donned a black dress and took shots at the intersection of two railroad tracks.
The only witness to the event, the photographer, told police that Fredzania, or Zania, as she was called, found herself in the path of a speed train and jumped to another track, but the deafening hiss of the engine masked the sound of another train that was head her way.
"Everyone knew the real Zanie. You know like I said very free spirited, just goofy everyone loved her, she never met a stranger. She was just very friendly and sweet,” her cousin Sambreia Glover told Texas TV station KBTX.
Zania was struck by the second train. She died on the way to the hospital.
Zania would have turned 20 years old on Monday and was also engaged to be married. Instead of picking out her dress, her family is faced with picking out her casket.
"It's tough, but God makes no mistakes. It was just her time, but yeah she will be truly missed,” Glover told the TV station.
A GoFundMe account set up to help the family says this:
