Shoni Sanders: 22-Year-Old Mom Gunned Down In West Philadelphia
Shoni Sanders was a loving mother trying to support herself and her family when senseless violence literally came to her door.
Police say the Philadelphia mother answered her door on the evening of Thursday, November 7, 2019.
The 22-year-old was shot at point-blank range in her doorway, according to police.
Forensic analysis indicates that three rounds were fired through the door, authorities said.
Sanders’ 4-year-old son and other relatives were inside the home when the murder took place, according to police. But it is unclear if there were any witnesses to the shooting.
“Clearly, she appeared to be the intended target. She was present, they identified who it was who opened the door and then fired,” Acting Philadelphia Police Commissioner Christine Coulter told reporters.
“But I don’t know the motive or who is responsible for it,” she said.
Police responding to the shooting found Sanders on the floor of her home bleeding from a hub last to the chest.
She was rushed to nearby Presbyterian Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 7:37 p.m.
