Alezauna Carter: 13-Year-Old Girl Found Fatally Shot In Philadelphia
Alezauna Carter, 13, was a fun-loving girl who enjoyed doing TikTok dances. She went missing in October 2020. For six long months, her family desperately searched for her.
“She was a strong girl, but she didn’t deserve this. Not at all,`` mom Trisha said at a vigil, according to TV station Fox 29 in Philadelphia.
"We all tried to look for her and keep her safe. Every day, was looking out for this child," Trisha was quoted as saying.
On April 18, the body of a teenage girl was found in a North Philadelphia apartment, police confirmed. Officers responded to a shots fired call around 11 p.m. and found Alezauna wounded inside a unit on the first floor.
According to police, the victim suffered a gunshot wound to the mouth. But it wasn’t until two weeks later that the victim was identified as Alezauna.
"They think cause she out in the street, she doing something bad. Nah, people just hang around the wrong group of people," Libby's cousin told Fox 29.
The Philadelphia Police Department has launched an investigation into the case. Police has also released surveillance footage of what they describe as “a possible offender was seen on video approaching the location just before the shooting, and fleeing shortly after.”
Police also announced a $20,000 reward award for information leading to an arrest and conviction in Alezauna’s slaying.
