Destiny Wiggins: 24-Year-Old Mother Of 4 Found Shot Dead In Car; 2 Toddlers Safe
Destiny Wiggins, 24, was a loving mother of four who had a passion for doing hair, her family told local media.
Just after 6 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1 2022, police in Rocky Mount, North Carolina were called out to a business, where they found Destiny Wiggins and Devone Brown, 28, dead in a car. They had been shot, according to police.
A group of people on their way to work discovered the bodies early Thursday and called the Rocky Mount Police Department.
Responding officers found two young children described as “toddler-age” freezing in the back seat of the vehicle, where they had been sitting for several hours. The temperature outside at the time the children were found was around 38 degrees, according to police.
Breana Wiggins, the victim’s sister, told TV station WNCN that Destiny’s daughters were “with her during this horrible crime.”
Rocky Mount police have arrested and charged Eric Coley, 42, with first-degree murder and felony possession of a firearm by a felon, according to the Charlotte Observer.
“Please keep the family members in your prayers,” Police Chief Robert Hassell told reporters. “Of course with any kind of situation like this, two members of our community have lost their lives.”
Rocky Mount detectives continue to investigate the slayings as more information becomes available.
The two kids, who were unharmed, were taken to UNC Nash Healthcare to be checked out.
