La'Shon Marshall: Detroit Mother Killed In Home Along With Boyfriend & Her Child
Detroit police officers performing a welfare check on a residence made a grisly discovery over the weekend.
On Sunday, February 20, 2022, officers found the bodies of La’Shon Marshall, and her boyfriend, Aaron Benson, in one room. They had been shot to death.
Marshall was a mother, who was an advocate for people in poverty. As such, she had been active with the RESULTS Education Fund, an anti-poverty initiative.
In another room, they made an even more horrible, discovery: Detroit Police then found the body of Caleb, Marshall’s 5-year-old son. Police told media that the child was shot execution-style.
Former state representative Sherry Gay-Dagnogo, who is related to Caleb, told Fox2 Detroit that the gunman or gunmen crossed the line.
"What mindset can anyone be in that would shoot a baby in the face intentionally?" Gay-Dagnogo told the TV station. "You have to be heartless. There is one thing to even a score or have issues with an adult but a child? A child is off-limits."
Caleb’s paternal grandmother, Shalesa Floyd, said the news of her grandson’s murder was "the most devastating news of my life.”
"You could have just left my grandson there alone, I would have come get him," Floyd said. "He could have grown up to be anything he wanted. He’s our future, he was our future. Why would you take my grandson from me?"
"Seeing his pictures now I’m just lost, I’m devastated - and to know some of the details of what happened is just devastating to me and my son."
Detroit Police Chief James White vowed to bring the murderer to justice, no matter what it takes.
"Every resource we have is going to be dedicated to pursuing and apprehending the person that murdered this baby and the people in this home," Chief White said.
Detroit Police are still investigating the triple-murder but have not yet located a suspect.
We are praying for justice in this case and for the family.
