Melanye Canedy: Mother of 3 Shot Dead In Dallas
Melanye Canedy, a 31-year-old mother of three, was found fatally shot outside a residence in Dallas, Texas, on Sunday, June 25, 2023.
Melanye Canedy, 31, was a loving mother of three beautiful children who would do anything for them as well as her friends.
“She made sure her kids didn’t go without,” a friend of hers told Black Girl Tragic. “Whenever anyone asked for anything, she didn’t care if it was her last, she gave it. She loved hard. She was so goofy as well! Kept everyone laughing.”
Canedy was also trying to get away from an ex-boyfriend.
She was found shot to death in the Oak Cliff section of Dallas, Texas, on Sunday, June 25, 2023.
According to a press release, Dallas police arrived on the scene outside a residence about 8 a.m. and found Canedy, who was bleeding from a gunshot wound, on the ground, which is where she died.
A funeral program had touching messages from her children, including one from her oldest, Mileyah. “Momma, I want you to know that I will look after my siblings and help them all I can.”
The investigation is ongoing and police have not made an arrest at the time of this writing.

People can also call 214-373-8477 to submit tips anonymously to Crime Stoppers, which is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest and indictment in the case.
