Naire' McCormick: New York Mother Killed By Boyfriend In Murder-Suicide
Naire' McCormick was a fun-loving mother who appreciated structure in her life as well as having a good time. She was a New York Police Department safety agent for more than 15 years.
The 44-year-old New Yorker also moonlighted as a plus-size model, even winning the 2018 face of Kurvacious, a plus-size model competition.
“She was a loving, outgoing soul (whose) life was taken too soon,” Shateama Vasquez, a longtime friend, told the New York Daily News. “She had a heart of gold. . . . Nobody have nothing bad to say about her. Her personality is what drew you to her.”
She also had what one neighbor described as “a jealous guy” for a boyfriend. The neighbor told The Daily News that Jancy Dempster, 47, and McCormick were often heard fighting in their apartment.
“I kept saying [to myself] he’s gonna hurt her, he’s gonna hurt her,’” Yvonne Jordan, 33, who lived across from McCormick told the newspaper.
She added that during the couple's fights McCormick was a “strong woman and she stood her ground.”
But inexplicably on Dempster's birthday on September 15, 2019, authorities said he had been in McCormick's apartment celebrating when tempers flared after he got in a drunken rage.
When officers arrived at the building, they found McCormick, and boyfriend Dempster in McCormick’s bedroom, both no longer breathing. They had been shot in the head.
Authorities described the shootings as a murder-suicide. Dempster's cousin and McCormick's 13-year-old son were in the next room and heard the shots. When they finally gathered themselves to flee the apartment, they were met by responding officers, according to media reports.
