Shaquana Jordan: Pregnant Wife Shot Dead in Portsmouth Home While 2 Kids Home

Shaquana Deborah Jordan was five months pregnant and looking forward to a new child, although she was in a troublesome and oftentimes violent marriage. 

“I will remember her as a loving caring person. She would give the shirt off her back … never negative, never mean, never nasty,”  the victim’s sister, Jasmine Jordan, told local TV station WAVY-TV10.

But Jordan’s marriage had turned into a nasty situation.

Jordan’s sister said she was looking for a way to get out of her marriage. “I’ve always heard rumors, hearsay, but never seen it with my own eyes,” the victim’s sister told local TV station WAVY-TV10, referring to any domestic violence in the marriage.

Jordan was fatally shot in her apartment on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.

According to TV station WTKR, citing court documents, police were alerted after they received a call from a little boy believed to be only 7 years old. The child relayed that his father had shot his mother.

When officers arrived, they found Jordan on the porch with a gunshot wound to her left arm and left side. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she died.

Accused of pulling the trigger is Hasheed Mills, Jordan’s husband and also the father of her other two children ages 2 and 7.

Authorities said that before the shooting, security camera footage shows Mills talking to Jordan in the breezeway of the apartment building. 

After the shooting, Mills is seen running from the apartment and getting into a vehicle and speeding off.

Mills is no stranger to law enforcement as he has a lengthy criminal history, according to news reports.

Last year, Mills allegedly hit Jordan in the face with a phone and pulled her hair out, causing a bald spot, according to news reports.

In January, Mills was charged with assault and battery back in after allegedly punching Jordan while retrieving some belongings from the apartment they shared.

During that altercation, he reportedly threatened to kill her, which she reported to authorities. Jordan received a protective order, but it expired after one week.

A statement from the Portsmouth Commonwealth’s Attorney General says this:

The Portsmouth Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office is fully committed to finding justice for Ms. Shaquana Jordan and her family. Hasheed Mills has a lengthy criminal history in Portsmouth but has never received or been presented with any deals from this office to reduce a sentence.  The family of Ms. Jordan can rest assured that this office will diligently and vigorously prosecute this matter in collaboration with our law enforcement partners. The Portsmouth Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office would like to express our sincerest condolences to the family of Ms. Shaquana Jordan, with whom our thoughts will remain.

Mills is in jail facing multiple charges, including aggravated murder and two counts of child neglect.
