Shatia Brooks: 33-Year-Old Pregnant Mother Shot Dead In Illinois

Another day, another black woman dead in Illinois, and it’s not in Chicago this time. We need justice for this queen. Shatia S. Brooks was pregnant when she was killed on Friday, October 23, 2020 in Decatur, Illinois.
Brooks, 33, was pronounced dead by Macon County Coroner Michael Day.
An autopsy performed later that day revealed that Brooks died from a gunshot wound to the head, Day said.
A preliminary investigation indicates that Decatur officers believe that a gunman fired into Brooks' residence from the outside. The shooting occurred a little after 4 a.m., according to media reports.
Her family released the following statement to the media:
"This is devastating and (we) hope to find the person responsible, not only for her, but also her unborn son. We continue to pray for strength for our family and the ones she touched in the community."
