Quantia Golden: 32-Year-Old Woman And Daughter Shot By Gunmen In Florida
Quantia Curry Golden was about to experience the happiest times of her life. The 32-year-old woman, who lived in the Miami area, was three months pregnant and had recently renewed her vows.
Already a mother to three children, including a teenage daughter who was with her, Golden was looking forward to adding to her family. But investigators say that her life was violently cut short on Monday night, November 26, 2018.
Authorities said that Golden was driving with her daughter and had just left a medical clinic when she was shot dead before 7 p.m. Monday outside a home on Superior Street in Opa-Locka.
Two men pulled up alongside them, got out of the vehicle and sprayed the car with bullets, police told local media. Nobody knows why Golden was shot.
Thirteen-year-old C’Lexus Richardson was also shot in the shoulder and is expected to survive, media reported.
The victim's mother, Gladiest Barnes, told CBS4 that her daughter called her immediately after she'd been hit. That's when Barnes hurried to the scene.
In a heartbreaking Facebook post, Barnes revealed that this is the second offspring she has lost to gun violence.
“God, what am I supposed to do now,” Barnes posted on Facebook. “You now have two of my babies. I am lost for words right now. I’m in a state of shock.”
Miami-Dade police are still investigating the shooting and are trying to uncover a motive. Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
